Welcoming Rabbi Salkin
We are beyond thrilled to announce that Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin will be joining the Glacier Jewish Community as our visiting spiritual leader for the High Holidays this fall. Rabbi Salkin is a rabbi with decades of experience leading services, teaching, writing and working with congregations from Poland to West Palm Beach. He is one of American Judaism’s most prolific and most quoted rabbis – described as “courageous” and “always relevant.”

After a distinguished career as a congregational rabbi, Rabbi Salkin co-founded and co-directs “Wisdom Without Walls: an online salon for Jewish ideas,” a program that engages Jews in Zoom conversations with significant Jewish thinkers about American Judaism, post-October 7.
Rabbi Salkin has spoken in more than a hundred communities – in North America, Europe, and Israel. He delivered the keynote on spirituality at the Chautauqua Institution, and has participated in interreligious dialogue with Christian and Muslim religious leaders – often on very sensitive subjects.
Rabbi Salkin is a noted writer and author. He has discussed the American political scene on CNN and the BBC. His column, “Martini Judaism: for those who want to be shaken and stirred,” published by the Religion News Service, has won several awards for best religion column of the year. “Martini Judaism” is also an award-winning podcast.
He is the author of twelve books on a variety of Jewish topics. His essays have appeared in the Washington Post, Commentary, the Wall Street Journal, Tablet, and Forward. His new book is Inviting God In: A Guide to Jewish Prayer. It is a spiritual commentary on Shabbat worship, seeking to uncover the hidden truths in each prayer, making them come alive for those in the pews.
He is also the author of the recently-published book, Tikkun Ha’Am: Repairing Our People – Israel and the Crisis of Liberal Judaism – the first book to describe the post-October 7 era of American Judaism. Reviewers called the book “daring” and “controversial.”
Rabbi Salkin currently lives in Montclair, New Jersey, and devotes his time to his family, friends, and consuming vast quantities of coffee.
